Becoming a Competitor
This year’s Mr Ottawa Bear competition will be a scaled-down version of the event and will be held during the evening of Friday, March 28 as part of Bear Frolic 2025’s list of amazing events.
If you’re here reading this it’s likely because you’re considering becoming a competitor so here are some things you will need to know.
The competition will begin directly after the Bear Bingo and after a short introduction, each competitor, one at a time, will be presented.
Your bio will be read out loud for the spectators and then you will present yourself on stage in your best bear wear.
This is your time to impress the judges as well as the viewers so make it count.
If you have a talent you’d like to showcase, go right ahead. There will be a microphone for you to use if you need it. Take as long as you need but no more than 5 minutes so we can keep the show moving along.
After your presentation, you will be asked one question by each judge and your answers will help them determine your score.
Once all contestants have been presented, the judges will retire to deliberate while we hear from past title holders.
Once a winner has been determined, you’ll be brought back on-stage with the other competitors and the winner will be announced.
The newly-crowned Mr. Ottawa Bear will receive a prize (to be determined) of cash and/or merchandise and you will receive the Mr. Ottawa Bear sash to keep until the next MOB competition. An MOB medal will be given to you later on with your name engraved on it.
There are only a few requirements for competing in the Mr. Ottawa Bear competition. You must:
- Be of legal drinking age
- Be a current resident of the Ottawa or Gatineau area
- Agree to have your photo and/or video used in future promotions
As a title holder, you are encouraged to participate in bear events, both local and in other cities but it is up to you how much or how little you wish to participate. Some great places you can help out: yearly pride parades, charity work and fundraising, helping with event organization within the Ottawa Bears. Promoting Ottawa Bears activities to other clubs.
If you are interested in competing in the upcoming Mr Ottawa Bear competition on March 29 fill out the form below and then forward a headshot photo of you that we can use in publicity on our web site and social media.
