The Mr Ottawa Bear 2020 weekend is full of fun activities for bears of all types. Some activities are free but if there is a cost, it will be indicated in the event details.

Note: Events tagged with “VIP” are ticketed events and are included if you purchased a VIP ticket.


Friday, January 24, 2020

6:30 pm-8:00 pm : VIP – Sweet Bear Desserts

Location: Arts Court Theatre – 2 Daly Ave

Start the weekend off at Arts Court Theatre by enjoying some catered sweet treats and a live DJ while you socialize with your fellow bears. Cash bar will be available.

8:00 pm-10:00 pm : VIP – Meet the Meat

Location: Arts Court Theatre – 2 Daly Ave

Your chance to get to know our competitors as they strut their stuff for us at Arts Court Theatre (2 Daly Ave). This is a fund raising event for Capital Rainbow Refuge so come have a cool drink, buy some 50/50 tickets and maybe win some prizes.

10:00 pm-? : Drinks with the Bears

Location: T’s Pub – 323 Somerset St. West

The party moves over to our very own local LGBTQ bar, T’s Pub on Somerset where you can continue to socialize with your fellow bears and enjoy some refreshments and music.

11:00 am – 1:00 pm : VIP – Bear Brunch

Location: Tucker’s Marketplace – 61 York Street

Keep the amazing weekend of fun, fur and frolic going with a sumptuous buffet brunch at one of Ottawa’s best brunch restaurants in town. Tucker’s Marketplace is located at 61 York Street in the Byward Market and features a massive buffet full of all things breakfast, and lunch, including a full salad bar and huge dessert section.

2:00 pm – 4:00 pm : VIP – Wet Paws

Location: Champagne Pool – 321 King Edward Ave

Fur getting a bit bedraggled by this point? Must be time for a swim! Grab your bathing suit and towel and head over to Champagne Pool for a fun couple of hours in the water.

6:00 pm-10:00 pm : VIP – Mr Ottawa Bear Competition

Location: Arts Court Theatre – 2 Daly Ave

The highlight of the weekend is the Mr Ottawa Bear competition which will take place at Arts Court Theatre (2 Daly Avenue). Doors will open at 6pm and the competition begins at 7pm featuring some furry local bears for your entertainment.

Also part of the show will be some local groups (to be announced) and talent. Beer, Wine and soft drinks will be available for purchase before the show and during intermissions.

A 50/50 draw and a silent auction will help raise funds for Capital Rainbow Refuge , the charity chosen by Mr Ottawa Bear 2019, Pedro.

Please note that this is an adults-only (18+) event.

VIP ticket holders will have reserved seating.

10:30 pm – 12:30 : Celebrate MOB

Location: T’s Pub – 323 Somerset St. West

Join the newly chosen Mr Ottawa Bear for some cocktails and merriment at T’s Pub (323 Somerset St. West).

10:30 pm-??? : Frisky Bears – After Party

Location: Club Ottawa Baths – 1069 Wellington Street

Come celebrate the crowning of a new Mr Ottawa Bear at the Club Ottawa Baths (1069 Wellington Street). A discount will be available if you mention Mr Ottawa Bear. Adults only.

10:30 pm-12:30 pm : Survivor’s Brunch

Location: To be announced

This will be an a-la-carte breakfast with the Ottawa Bears. This event is not included in the VIP package.

1:00 pm-2:30 pm : Bears on Ice – Rideau Canal – Skating

Location: Rideau Canal

Weather and Ice permitting we will meet at the Rideau Locks Change Cabin. If the canal is closed at Rideau St Locks we will meet at the Fifth Ave Change Cabin http://ncc-ccn.gc.ca/rideau-canal-skateway

2:30 pm-5:00 pm : Board Games

Location: The Loft – 14 Waller Street

Join your fellow bears for some fun board games and socializing at The Loft Board Game Lounge (14 Waller Street) and enjoy your favourite cocktail from the bar or order some delicious appetizers, sandwiches or pizza from their menu. There is a $6.00 cover charge.

3:30 pm-5:30 pm : Bear Coffee

Location: T’s Pub – 323 Somerset Street West

Come warm up with the Ottawa Bears at T’s Pub (323 Somerset Street West), for a nice afternoon of talking (and gossip). We meet here every Sunday afternoon and some of us usually chose a local restaurant afterward for supper.
